Truthful Lie

Me : I just lied to my Mom. Is that bad ?

Voice : What did you lie for ?

Me : I didn't want to go with her to a family gathering so I just said I was very sick and running a temperature when actually I was out for a movie with my friends.

Voice : Are you feeling guilty ?

Me : Uh..No.

Voice : So why bring it up ?

Me : I just want to know if its bad to lie ?

Voice : I am not sure how you like to judge actions as good or bad. All I can say that it pays to make others happy and it certainly boomerangs to make anyone unhappy. So anything you think, speak or do - ask yourself if it makes the other feel good or miserable ?

Me : So I can lie - if my intention is not to hurt the other person ?

Voice : The whole deal about speaking lies and truth is nothing but a magnified work of the Ego. Sometimes, we feel we are being righteous by saying the truth - even at the cost of someone else's happiness. How can that ever be the truth which fails to uplift anyone ? How can it be called a lie when you protect the feelings of other ?

In reality, you are a Living Lie ! Everything about You and this existence is a Lie. There is only one Truth. Until we reach there everything is a lie.

Me : And what is that Truth ?

Voice : Love. Love. Love.
Anything you think, speak or do from the premise of Love can never be a lie. Love only uplifts the other. Love protects the weak. Love gives strength. Love only gives. Love is sacrifice.

Me : So when people talk about calling 'spade a spade', it's actually just acting from the standpoint of their Egos !

Voice : Over time, it will be natural of you to be conscious only of one fact - ' will my actions and words uplift another ? ' You won't be driven by the usual trick of 'I always tell the Truth.' Its just a play of the mind.
